Soil, Stones and Seeds (Småland's mylla)

With the rich soil of Småland in mind, we hope that our two days together will yield a good harvest. Our fertilizer is a variety of activities, projects and ideas that residencies and artists cultivate in these areas.

 

Let's reflect on how residencies can take root in their local communities and plant seeds of engagement that can continue to grow within and beyond  the residency sites.
We will discuss and reflect on questions such as:
The politics of hospitality – about positions of power in the residence; what do we take, what do we give back, who sets the agenda? How do we create the conditions for hands-on knowledge - about residency and material-based artistic practices. How can we develop collaborative strategies? How are we affected by working in a rural context?

The Swedish Arts Council, Share Music, WARB-Wood Art Residence Bodafors, AIR Småland, Ella Tillema, Olga Kovalenko, Baltic-Nordic Residency Network (network with SWAN, LOORE-Estonian Creative Residencies Network, and FAIRE - Finnish Artist Residency Network)

Wednesday, September 25th

10:00: Bus departure from Alvesta station to Vandalorum
11.00 - 15.00: Program, lunch and workshop at Vandalorum
15:0: Bus departure to Växjö, program at Växjö Konsthall and Free Speech House
18.00: Dinner and hotel stay in Växjö

Thursday, September 26th

08:30: Bus departure from Växjö to The Glass Factory 
09:40 - 15.00: Program, lunch and workshop at The Glass Factory
15:00: Bus departure to Alvesta
16:00: Arrival in Alvesta station
